Introduction
The home was built around 1920, and most of its original architectural detail was lost in a series of renovations beginning around 1950.  After an initial period of stabilization, current work has focused on rehabilitating interior spaces, including reworking the floor plan of a 1950s covered deck which was enclosed by previous owners.
Philosophy
Designers of projects in a historic space are faced with a choice: where should the new work fall on the spectrum of preservation to contraposition?  That is, should renovations carefully recreate original detail, or should they intentionally contrast with original work?  Those are hardly the only two choices, but they represent opposite ends of the spectrum.
