The Urban Segment of the Museum Reach extends approximately 1.33 miles from Lexington Street downtown to Josephine Street adjacent to the Pearl Brewery. It connects museums, retail, and several San Antonio neighborhoods to downtown and the historic San Antonio River Walk.

The Museum Reach was truly a collaborative affair, both in terms of funding and design. A team of architects, engineers, other designers, and contractors worked over a period of almost ten years to make the project happen. The project was managed by the San Antonio River Authority, funded by the city and county, overseen by the San Antonio River Oversight Committee, and the artwork was largely funded by the San Antonio River Foundation.
